After going virtual last year, Denver’s annual Underground Music Showcase returns to rock Denver’s South Broadway venues in 2021.
Every year the festival brings dozens of local and national acts into the Baker neighborhood, attracting thousands of music lovers and giving a huge list to local business along South Broadway From Aug. 27-29, UMS 2021 will take over just under 10 blocks of South Broadway and upward of 12 venues, including UMS classics like Hi-Dive and the Goodwill.
The 2021 headliners include New Jersey indie rock group Pinegrove; pop singer and American Idol alum Remi Wolf; and Los Angeles rock group Allah-Las. Other national and international headliners include funk musician Dâm-Funk, synth-indie artist Ekkstacy, alternative musician Goth Babe; rapper and R&B artist KAMAUU; alternative hip hop artist MIKE; alt pop duo Neil Frances; retro indie quartet Shannon & the Clams; pop singer Sofía Valdés; California soul band Thee Sacred Souls; and indie rock musician Yoke Lore.
This year’s Colorado bands include local favorites like Wildermiss, Los Mocochetes, YaSi, Wes Watkins, Neoma, John Grant, Kayla Marque, Kiltro, The Still Tide, Isadora Eden, Rubedo, The Grand Alliance, Schama Noel, CITRA and dozens more.
“After 20 years of Underground Music Showcase, we were thrilled to be able to carry on our tradition virtually last year by raising $75,000 for independent musicians,” UMS owner Casey Berry said in a press release. “With that said, we couldn’t be happier to be in-person for 2021 to not only support live music and local bands, but to support more than a dozen independent bars and restaurants on Broadway!”
